At a Special General Meeting on Sunday 17th July 2023 Cllr Lewis Cocking was selected as the Broxbourne Parliamentary Conservative Candidate to fight the next General Election. This follows Sir Charles Walker’s decision to retire at the next Election.
Lewis was selected from a vigorous process which involved nearly 100 talented candidates from all walks of life.
He was unanimously adopted at the at the end of the meeting.
Paul Mason, Chairman of Broxbourne Parliamentary Association, said, “Lewis will make an excellent Parliamentary Candidate and a great Member of Parliament, if elected. Broxbourne has a strong record in sending outstanding Conservative MPs to Parliament. I am sure Lewis will maintain that tradition.”
Lewis said, "I am honoured to be selected in the place where I grew up and am proud to call my home. It would be a huge privilege to be Broxbourne’s Member of Parliament. For me the campaign starts now and I will work tirelessly until the last vote is cast at the next General Election. I intend to knock on every door in the Constituency and speak to as many Constituents as I can!”
Lewis is currently the Leader of Broxbourne Council and the Deputy Police & Crime Commissioner for Hertfordshire.
